Backup Your WordPress Database Online
There is a new plugin for WordPress by Backup Technology which will backup your WordPress database online. This is the first plugin I know that backs up your sites database to an online storage area.
Backing up your database is very important. Servers do go down and sometimes get corrupted. It is always important to have a backup database. You can use one of the many plugins and back up to your computer, but it seems to me that if you backup online it is always available wherever you are or whatever computer you are on. I think this is great. And, if you want Backup Technology can email you a copy of your backup too.
Backup Technology offers secured server space with their plugin. They are giving a way a free plugin with 50 MiB of free space on their secure servers. For more space there is a free trial, but their server storage space will cost a few more dollars.
For most blogs and small sites 50mb is more then enough.
Go to Backup Technology and register for a free account. Then, download the plugin here.
Upload the plugin to your sites plugin folder or go to your WordPress Dashboard. On the left hand column find the Plugins>Add New and then upload the plugin automatically. Remember to click the upload tab since you already have downloaded the plugin from the Backup Technology site.
Go to the plugins Admin page and configure your plugin with the details provided you by Backup Technologies and then enable encryption. You will add your login details from your online account.
You can then schedule backups by clicking Change Schedule and you will always have a backup at your disposal.
